This past Saturday, Dec. 14, even though the RI weather was a bit treacherous, the Studio Miners celebrated the opening of MAD INK, new prints and artwork from the wild card artist known as Ryan Maguire. Ryan is never to be pigeonholed into one genre, medium, or aesthetic, and this show is truly representative of that trait.
Thematically, Maguire's work in this show covers Big Pharma, RI myths, marajuana, sports, the dark side of romantic relationships, mistreatment of animals, the protection of the environment, and so much more. He flows in and out of bold graphic styles to frantic sketches, capturing moments in time as well as the depth of the human condition. MAD INK is the embodiment of years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears and is certainly not to be missed.
In case you didn't brave the snow for the opening, you can view the work at OneWay Gallery at 140 Boon St. in Narragansett until February 14.
