What do you get when 4 friends who also happen to be artists take a road trip to an art opening? Well, you're about to find out. And if you guessed mayhem, then you'd be close to being right. The pictures below are from a trip that EVOKER took with a rag-tag group of his artists friends to attend Angry Woebots opening at the Art Whino gallery. EVOKER, Luke Chueh, Mat Curran and J*RYU all piled in a rental car and found their way (after many stops at BBQ joints) from North Carolina to the DC area to partake in the opening night festivities. It's a wonder that it took so long for The Studio Miners to meet Raleigh, NC-based artist Mat Curran when he'd been buzzing around our circle for years - in the same gallery shows and in the same location. It took an art toy sale on ebay to bring us all together and it was fortunate for us because we also wrangled him to be in a show we curated, Locals Only. You'll have seen his stencil work on stickers and in large scale wheat-pastes. The texture he brings to his stencils make for beautifully detailed work.
